Yes you all read that right!!! I'm going to build my vintage MPC 1914 Stutz Bearcat model!! I thought I'd build something different and for myself and so I pulled this kit out and cut the bag open to release that vintage smell! I've been looking online for good photos to work with on how I'm going to build it? This one looks pretty good to do? Or this one that was in Green Acres, 1965-1971 Or maybe get crazy and do this one!!!!!!! LOL Looks like I'll stripping a lot of chrome and redoing it in brass!!! Anyone have any idea what would be the best to use for doing the brass?

Bare Metal Foil makes a gold foil. You have to be careful with it, though. The "gold" is a paint coating over the aluminum and if you try to remove a black wash you can take the paint off and leave just plain old BMF. I had some success repairing poorly coated "gold" plated parts (pretty much just chrome on one side) with a custom mix of clear paints. (I was using fake glass stain at the time, so had quite a variety of colors.) You can use amber (if you can find it) by itself or mix it with yellow and/or orange to get the shade you want (maybe a little black, too, to take down the intensity). Good thing you've got sprue to experiment on if you go this route.

Hopefully you have not stripped it yet. I think you might try to airbrush turn signal yellow over the chrome or something close to a transparent brass color. Just an idea, Marty. Very nice subject too.

Very nice subject too. I haven't striped the chrome yet, but I think I'm going to go with the Alclad brass as I think it will look a little better? I got some of the motor painted and have cleaned up some parts getting them ready for paint, hopefully tomorrow I can get some more done on it. I thought doing the red & black was going to make for an easy paint job and after spending some time looking at the photo I see I will have to do a lot of masking and painting on the fenders and some of it looks like it's not going to be fun!! In the photo below I have to paint them red, black and some spots to look like wood...... I might use the stand to display Stutz?

Yesterday I was able to get the rest of the chassis & wheels painted. Still need to detail the wheels.

Looks good, Marty. I picked up a 1:25 scale 1908 Thomas Flyer kit from Bernies Bargan Barn at the meeting last night. A real nice kit.
