I have not posted here for some time. Been pretty busy. I dreamed up this project. Thought it might be cool to actually install on a guitar amp. Would also be cool for the guitar players man or girl cave. This one actually glows in the dark which was the point of the project to begin with. Tried as I might I could not get my camera to snap a photo of it to show how cool it looks glowing in it's beautiful blue color.

I bought some dyes from the link above. You can go there and see what other colors I can make these in. I also bought some transparent dyes to play with as well. Only thirty dollars to your door in the USA. Yes, I know the date is off on my camera and I don't know how it changes.

How can I delete the first post? Any ideas?
Here is a photo of the front of the original part.
Here is a photo of the back side of the original part.
Before I poured the silicone in to form the backside of the part I slid these small pieces of styrene tubing to create studs where a new thread will be formed in the mold.
Here are the threaded studs I created to replace the original mounting posts on the original part. Ace Hardware has K&S brass, aluminum, and copper shapes in lengths from one foot to three foot long. I bought brass screws and cut the heads off and slid them into some short lengths of tubing. When you are removing the master part from the mold the tubing makes it easy to remove the stud along with the part from the mold. Then you can take pliers and unscrew the stud from the new cast part. Then you press the stud back into the mold for your next resin pour.
This is an example of changing a original part and make it different and create it into a more artistic art form since it can now glow in the dark. You could make them different colors or add sparkly powders to your resin mix. You could spray paint in the mold and let it dry. Then pour in resin. once the resin is cured you will pull a part out that is painted.
Yippeeee, I finally got a decent photo of it glowing in the dark. Ain't she a beauty?
