Here is a quick how to of how I did the pinstripe on my 70 Monte Carlo. This time it's the 66 Chevelle wagon kit. This would be the 3rd time I'm painting this body. It is cursed and I WILL FINISH THIS KIT!!!
This is the starting point. All body work has been done and the model has been washed. All the usualy prep work done.
Time to lay down the stripe. I'm using 3m fine line tape 3/8 wide. I lay the tape down on what will be the top side. Using the old calibrated eyeball I get it just were I want it.
Now it's time for the lower mask. Trying to keep the thickness consistant is tricky.
Another shot checking with the calibrated eyeball again. I'm happy with this.
Time for masking. I try to cover everything but this doesn't allways work well. I usually polish out any misplaced overspray, and this will happen.
I use my airbrush and lay down the paint. I do this in about 6 coats of paint. My airbrush is set for very little paint and I wait about 10 minutes between every other coat. I need it to spray as little of paint as possible. The paint will build up on the tape edges and will need to be polished lightly to knock that down.
Time to remove the tape. I do this fairly quickly after the paint has set, about 30 minutes. Be carfull not to touch the new paint. Watch your hands on the other side too!!! I have touched the paint on the opposite side I'm working on. Not this time thou.

Still cursed. I have to lay down some more grey on the pass side as the tape pulled up some met flakes. I think it's a little bit thin on this side as it's fine on the drivers side. I will wait a week for polishing the edges down and the little bit of overspray.
