Hey All just lookin for some opinions I have spent the last couple days tryin to find bulk wire for ignition etc. The only thing I came up with was from ACE hardware some enamaled wire and dark annealed. The enamaled is a dark green and the annealed is a black both look about teh size i think 30 ga. I would really like red or black. believe it or not Radio Shack had nothing I was shocked lol. Just wondering if you guys might know where i could get some bulk wire. On a side note they had these cool braid kits for small fencing that are killer for hose 2.98$ for a 6 ft roll Terry

Have you looked at telephone wire? The kind you would wire your house with has a plastic sheathing. When you peel it away, you have 4 colored wires that may be useful for a variety of modeling projects. Hope this helps. Dan

Michael's sells silver colored wire in various fine gauges. I believe the crafters use it for beading. I have found it useful for brake lines and fuel lines. I generally tear apart any old electical appliance before I throw it out. You can frequently find useful wire inside. Bernie

I have a huge bag of phone wire, but the only solid colors I see are orange and white. The rest are mixed colors. It would be a lifetime supply for several people

JoAnn's has some pretty cool wires/lines and clear tubing/chord in the bead department. I have used the fine wire for plugs and the silver for brake and fuel lines. I picked up the clear chord for top fuel overflow/blow by lines but havent used it as of yet. Most of the time for plug wires I just pick up pre wired distibutors, get a billet dist. and its already wired so that part is already done.

I've always used 30 gauge wire-wrap wire for spark plugs. It measures out at 0.019" diameter, which is equal to 0.446"/0.475" or 11.5mm/12.1mm for 1/24 and 1/25 scale models. Since spark plug wires are between 7mm and 11mm, this is a little large, but it works for me. The wire is available in 100 foot spools in white, black, yellow, blue, and red (about $10.00 a spool) from Circuit Specialists in Mesa. You can probably find it cheaper on line, but then you have to add shipping. The stuff I have is Page brand Kynar insulated wire. Circuit specialists has a bunch of larger (lower number) gauge wire, too, so if you do the math and have a set of calipers, you can find equivalents for a bunch of wires and hoses.

I've always used the 30 gauge wrapping wire from Radio Shack, but since they're not carrying it any more, sounds like Circuit Specialists is the place to go!
In the past, Radio Shack had it in three insulation colors: red, white and blue. The white was great because it took painting or dying very easily and it could be colored any hue you wanted.
Of course, I also REALLY like Arrowhead's prewired distributors. Fortunately, I still have a large supply.
Good thread.

If ya don't mind shopping online, go to radioshack.com, ya can order the 3 roll, just search, ummmm 30 gauge, wrapping wire, i can't find the 3 pack, but look here: WOW! did it get expensive, I also go after old wired mouse's, small dvd players, small electronics. www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=30%20gauge%20wrapping%20wire&origkw=30+gauge+wrapping+wire&sr=1or if ya really wanna get wild, check this place out, got just about every gauge, and color ya could think of, tho it might be to shiny for say plug wires, but ya never know what ya could use a 200-300 foot roll for like 7.00, they take, or used to only deal with a 25.00 min order, but worth a look see, 20 colors, just in 30 gauge www.parawire.com/product/30-gauge/
