We have reached an agreement with the family of Bob Peeples wherein the Moonlight Modelers Club will acquire his legendary unfinished Cobra CSX project with all its unassembled components and reference material. Following acquisition, it will be donated to the International Model Car Builders Museum for permanent exhibition. The International Model Car Builders Museum has expressed enthusiastic desire to receive and display the project as a demonstration of super-detailing that can be accomplished, even in 1/25 scale.
We do not intend to complete the model. It will be displayed as the in-progress build it was, amid its unassembled components and research material. Once we acquire the model, we will be working with the museum to prepare an appropriate exhibit platform.
We intend to make the formal presentation of the exhibit to the museum next May at the 25th GSL.
Donations to the acquisition can be made directly to the museum and will therefore be tax deductible as 501-C3 charitable contributions. Donors will be provided receipt certificates. The proceeds of the acquisition contributions will be distributed to Bob's family through the museum.
Make contributions payable to:
Model Car Builders Museum 1348 Longdale Drive Sandy, UT 84092
There is no Paypal account available. Please make any contributions as promptly as possible as the family has an immediate financial crisis that necessitated their decision to part with the model.

Although I've missed the last two monthly meetings, I am wondering what's new on this front. Any news or updates?

We have the Cobras - three of them, Bob's seminal project and two other major projects, in our possession.
They were on display at the May meeting, in 'as acquired' form.
A couple of pledges haven't been submitted yet.
Next step on the agenda is some serious photography. There are a couple of publication projects in the works.
Then it's time for you (Brad) and I to get together and start planning a suitable display for the museum exhibit.
The museum exhibit will be previewed at Desert Scale Classic 11 (April 2015).
Then, finally (May 2015) the exhibit will be transported to Salt Lake City, to be unveiled at GSL 25 and presented and dedicated to the Museum. It will immediately go on permanent display.
Hope this helps bring everyone up to speed. Any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask away!
