While I was wiring I was looking for upgrades in instrumentation. We had allways planned to keep the Malibu dash and not go with the SS dash that you allways see. I had planned on getting the original speedo reworked to 160 or get a Canadian speedo that was numbered to 200. The Canadian model is in KM but it does not say that anywere on it. To redo the art work on her original speedo and rebuild recalibrate it was $700.00. I was all ready to do that untill I found out about these. I was on the waiting list for them and have one of the first sets for the Malibu dash. They are nice and have some tattle tails included. High speed recall!! 1/4 mile caculator!! High RPM recall!! Plus GPS ready for who knows what. Here is what came out.

Looking better every day!
Love that guage cluster. I'm usually not big on electronic guages but that is just the right blend of today's digital intelligence and yesterday's analog-dial look!

It's time for an update on this one. I have been buisy but does anyone really want to see a bunch o pictures of wiring? Well it is 90% wired and runs well. Many of the accessories now work. Back in April I finished color sanding the car down. Then came the last paint touch ups and the last layer of clear coat. Yes, this is in my garage.

The dash has been in and out what feels like a hundred times. The mods to the dash are done and the wiring is just about done. I still need to install the speakers, amp, and alarm. The A/C is installed and wired. Now I need to run the plumbing to it. Paint the dash and install the dash for the last time. Like my new steering wheel. It's not correct for a 71 but why not!

A few weeks back I got some help and got the paint polished out. That was a long weekend.

WOW! This is really cool to see it get finished. I'm looking for a Chevy for a Chevy Bowtie logo that might be about 1 1/2 inches long. It needs to be a 3d type part. A lapel pin might work. I can cast it and then it could be used as a handle for my BRAINY STRAINER SOUPED UP STOPPERS.

Looking great, Raoul.
While you are at it, I would HIGHLY recommend you have a LoJack Early Warning system installed. You'll never regret it.

Dan, I plan on it!! The alarm I'm installing is to prevent or deture theft. Any good thief can beat it. The LoJack will also be installed and if it is stolen almost guaranties We will get it back.
BTW they (LoJack) won't let me install it. It will be one of the last things installed before my interior goes in.

Correct. They insist even the owner should not know where the module is placed. There's several reasons, none the least of which is that they don't want a desperate thief to torture the owner into disclosing the module's location so that it could be removed.
They use several locations but obviously there are more vehicles than locations, so if they find one, they know at least one location to look when they steal other cars.
PS: Recovery rate ~ without significant damage ~ is nearly 98% with LoJack!
Interesting factoid: The LoJack system often recovers stolen cars not equipped with LoJacks modules.
Quiz of the Day: Know how? {Open to anyone.}

Would that be by leading police to chop shops

I read many stories of them finding theift rings and chop shops with lojack equipped cars.
One that I read was someone had a lojack installed in the truck that they used to tow their collector/classic car. The car was in an enclosed trailer and did not have loJack. The truck did. The truck, trailer and car were stolen. The truck was recovered within 24 hours but the trailer and car that was in the trailer were gone.
Luckily the trailer turned up abandoned and the car was still in it. The thieves didn't know or look in the trailer. It was locked, and they ditched it and joy ridded the truck. The owner had since installed LoJack in the classis since.
