Coming in December! A stock Gremlin kit!
Here's the word directly from the mouth of John Greczula:
Guys,
It's a done deal. We've backdated the Gremlin body. The AMT 1976 Gremlin X kit will be the first release in the new AMT Original Art Series.
ALL ORIGINAL PARTS HAVE BEEN RESTORED including the "stock" body. It will be a 2-in-1 kit with the same "pro stock" style drag parts included that were in the original release. We are shooting for December 2011 delivery.
Remember those smaller, rock hard AMT hollow slicks that had Goodyear lettering on one side and M&H lettering on the other, not to mention a nasty core web you had to trim out? Well, we hunted high and low and could not find that tire tool. Our solution was to tool an ALL NEW hollow drag slick. These will be a totally different animal. They will be molded in super-soft thermoplastic rubber, and even better, will have M&H Racemaster lettering pad printed on them.
The decal sheet has been expanded with 3 stock stripe colors instead of just one and now has plenty of Gremlin characters. I've added a "5 Litre V/8" decal to go beside the right taillight, and if you want to sand off the engraved AMC badge beside the left taillight, I've given you a decal to replace it with.
Back to the Original Art aspect, to learn more about that, you'll just have to come out and see it at the iHobby show later this month. We'll have a mockup of the box art and related special Original Art print, and we're scheduled to have a buildup there, too. Our ace model builder, Mike Wherry is working on it right now.
I hope this helps to set the story straight, and with luck, Santa Claus will hopefully have the opportunity to put Gremlin X kits under all your trees this holiday season!
Thanks,
John Greczula • AMT/MPC
