Hi gang!! We're in the new house. My folks brought out all their stuff. Digging thru the models Dad brought with him, I found a Pevely Dairy truck I built him for his 40th birthday in 1987. (MY dad worked for Pevely Dairy for 37 Years.) It's in Ok shape for have been built 25 years ago. The mirrors are broken off and the left front wheel is broken, and it is real dirty. My question to you guys is should I restore it using modern paints and decals OR should I just clean and do minor repairs? Remember this was built by me (An eleven year old) at the time. -Louie

I'd clean it up and fix the broken stuff and leave it as is!!! Because you can always build another one and then display them together.

Good idea Marty. I'll build a new one and then you can see the difference in build quality from a kid to now. Not to mention, but many of my builds from my childhood did not survive. Thanks, Louie

I agree. You can't build or buy another of your originals and if you re-build it, your original is gone forever ... but you can buy another kit and build a new version.
Keep it and build another.

I also agree, I have a 55 chevy nomad that is my oldest build. I did it when I was 14 I was in 8th grade. I found the same kit a couple years ago and I am planing on building it again to have a then and now. The original was paint with a rattle can (turned out really good to and I was only 14) adn the chrome trim was hand painted silver...now we have BMF. It nice to keep the ones that once were so to speak....I would like to see it when you clean it up It looks pretty good now, and see what the new one looks like next to it.
