Oh my goodness, Jan, since you are a retired engineer this thing is going to have you on the edge of your seat. It might keep you out of the better halves hair for awhile!! I will be engineering a new design.

A call for HELP!
I am looking for some lettering to put on the top lip of my strainer master. I have used vinyl letters before that work really well. I went to the Hobby Bench to buy some more but they do not carry 1/4 inch tall letters anymore. This is all the thickness I need too. I need the letters created to spell BRAINY STRAINER in a somewhat unique font. The kicker is I think it would be kind of cool if the "B" were wearing a graduation cap on top of it. If the tassel detail could be added that would really be cool too. These would be small thin fiddly things. Too small for me. I could pay you in resin parts. My email address is: mastercaster1@cox.net
Thank you in advance.

Hi Jan, I have looked at most of these places and the font size is too big. I can get them from Ebay but the font is kind of plain and the "B" will not be what I have in mind. With todays technology I never think I'm asking for a lot. I just can't ever seem to find that certain something. Our old printer took a dump recently. I'm pretty sure my wife is going to let me get a HP laser printer. That will be a big help with my Decalpro FX kit. I might even be able to make photo etch which is amazingly What might help me make the font of my dream. www.pulsarprofx.com/decalpro/

Today I glued the two parts together and did a little body work. I really wanted a thread so I went to home depot and bought a cheap spool of trimmer line. I super glued it on and used a special shaped file and filed it between the string to make it look like it is a regular thread. This was not fun and it still is not as nice as I would like. It was really hard to glue on. I took a strip of printer paper and put it on first. It glued on a little better like this than it did on my first attempt to glue it directly on the part. Also make a note that it is now a left hand thread. I guess it could be a Lefty Looms BRAINY STRAINER! LEFTY TIGHTY RIGHTY LOOSEY

OK this thread thing is kicking my A$$! I remembered that I have seen strips of styrene that are triangle shapes. I picked up a couple of sizes at the Hobby Bench. I took a piece of printer paper and cut it to the length I need. I taped it down and drew some offset lines so that I would know how to be more exact with gluing the strip down. Everything before this attempt has been a LOSER!!

Putting a thread on this subject is just giving me a good screwing. LOL PUN INTENDED! I bought two packs of triangle shaped strips. They come in these plastic cases. One I could see through, the other I could not but the labels matched. I started with the one I could see through and of course the triangles were bigger when I opened it up. This large size was a bit hard to bend and lay down though. The size I have glued on thus far is: .156"/4.0mm. I did buy two packs of a smaller size not being certain how this would go. Now I have to go back to the drawing board, literally!

Here is a new set of threads on paper. Now I can glue it to my master. Here is a new thread glued on the master.

I sink this thread is fascinating. It strains the imagination. I hope the project doesn't go down the drain.

I needed to create a unique and somewhat ergonomic design for the ring that will tighten the strainer under the sink. It took awhile to create this drawing. Our printer is broken or I could have made copies and cut out layers from something. Instead I cut a thin sheet of styrene and siliconed it down to create the inside circle. Then I built up layers of silicone to create the outside of the form. I will mix up some resin to create a rough shape to further create the finished master part.
