I have a customer that needs some copies of this 64 Corvette. He said it has never been reissued. I have already made some hoods.

I have been restoring a few of these AMT Corvettes. It is true that AMT never rereleased many of these because they kept modifying the tooling. The original 63 kit was changed into the 64 annual kits. They were offered in both coupe and roadster. Then the 65's annuals were released also in both coupe and convertible. Then they retooled for 66 and then the 67's. The 67's were issued a few different times. Then the 67 tooling was backdated to the 63 kit with one major error. The first 63's issued with the backdated tool still had the 67 back up lamp above the plate. All 63's issued after that have that removed from the tool. Those are the 63 kits that we have today from AMT.

Thanks for the info Raoul. Here is the body boxed in ready for silicone. I made the box more compact. It will fit in my 23 quart canner/pressure pot. this new silicone starts gelling way before spec indicates. I am going to vac the silicone as normal then put the box in the pot and put it under some pressure to further aid in getting rid of bubbles in the silicone. I have made four body molds of the 90 Fox Mustang and there are still deformities in the bodies that come out of it. The original errors have been taken care of only to have new ones form. I am hoping this idea works. I won't know until the mold is completed and copies are pulled from it. Within a couple of minutes of removing it from 50 PSI bubbles started to form on the surface. I'm doubting this was a good idea. I tried once pouring the silicone in a mold box and running through the vacuum chamber. It turned out to be a really bad idea as it sucked the sides of the body in at the bottom and that was a waste of silicone too.

Well.....The major defect is the grille detail by the drivers door. I looked at a MCG photo etch set that covers 63 to 65. I think this was a detail in a 65 Corvette body that I was able to fix but it was with the purple silicone that shrinks. I don't see enough grilles in the set to detail this body. For me, I don't think I would have the skill to make this look right. The upside is the rocker panel detail looks really good on both sides. The rear end is not horrible but another couple of pulls will tell the tale.
