Clear resin parts are a bit harder to make. I would suugest that you do not attempt to demold small parts for 36 to 48 hours. Here is a mold of some parts for my TA project. Notice all the vent holes. Clear resin has to be mixed 1 to 1 by weight.
I turn on the scale and place a 50 ML container on it. It weighs 10 grams
I push the tare button to zero it out to weigh clear resin part A.
I pour in 7 grams of clear resin part A. I try not to let the material drip on the side of the cup. I pour into the center of the cup
I pour just a tiny bit more of the part B resin in the cup because you just can't get it all scraped out. I pour this in the A cup and stir vigorously.
This is what parts A and B weigh after B is poured into the A cup.
BRA VO to the A and B cup! ;D
Mix the A and B for a few seconds making sure you are scraping the side and bottom of the cup. It will get cloudy and then become clear again.
Pour some material into each cell. If you have a part that is tall and narrow, You may want to pour the material in these first by picking the mold up and streching that opening up just to help air to not become trapped here. You can also take a piece of wire and work out bubbles too. Some parts may only need a couple of drops to make.
Place the top part of the mold onto the other part making sure that it is fitted in the mold properly and the correct direction. Sometimes you will need to create a key in a mold when making it, more on this later.
Place the no longer SECRET WEAPON on top and give it a good push with the palm of your hand.
This is what it looks like when it is lifted back off again.
I place a three plus pound body mold on top of it. I fold up the edges of the green bag to catch what may be too much resin and spill on my way outside to the pressure pot. You do not want any resin to spill or build up on the floor of the pot.
After an hour or two, you should pull the mold out of the pot. Remove the body mold. keeping the mold flat and putting some pressure on the no longer SECRET WEAPON , take the putty knife and use it to break it away from the mold. Do not allow the mold to open.
This is what the surface of the mold will look like when the no longer SECRET WEAPON is removed. You will need to put pressure on each side of the holes where the build up is and remove it before it sets for the 36 to 48 hour time.
This is what it should look like after that step. If you do not do this You will have trouble at demolding time. This stuff is not brittle like the white resin is! It is more rubbery.
After the mold has set undisturbed for 36 to 48 hours, place the mold in the palm of your hand. Start at one corner and pull it apart by working your way around the parameter of the mold. Do this over a tabletop and watch that no parts come loose and pop out. I have lost parts out of molds, I just don't know where they go!
If you get impatient and anxious and pull the mold apart too soon the flash will pull like taffy and be sticky. The flash will droop over and touch the surface of the parts and stick to them, when you try to remove that it will make a mark on your parts. You will put fingerprints on your parts because it is still sticky. This won't make you very happy. Fingerprints in bubble tops do not mix well! BE PATIENT!
