This hood was loaned to me for a mold project by Dan D. He said the later reissues did not fit right and did not have the 454 on it. I have had this hood for quite awhile, that is the information I remember. I could be wrong!! I don't know how this is going to turn out. After pouring the silicone to make the top, I realized that I had forgotten to spray the mold release on first. I had to quickly remove the silicone and clean it all out. Then I sprayed the release in and poured the silicone back in. The release should have set in the mold a few minutes before adding silicone. Hopefully it will still be a good mold. I had bought a 5 gallon kit. There is about 4 inches left in the 5 gallon bucket. It started to pour very slowly out of the container and gell quickly after vacuuming. I emailed John Greer, the company I get silicone from about the problem and he emailed back to call him. Upon speaking with John, he told me he already sent a half gallon of a silicone oil that would thin it out and told me that I should set the container on it's top to keep the silicone mixed occasionally. That is to say to rotate it. Top, bottom, top, bottom. I was amazed that he was so helpful and did not question the problem and sent the oil at no cost to me. This is the place to buy silicone from! It ships fast and the 5 gallon kit only made the silicone cost about eight bucks a pound!! I don't think you could beat that with the customer service experience.

Yes, it thinned it out. It flows nicely before and after vacuuming.

Well......I got home from work and the two halves came apart but it took more than normal work. I think it will make a good hood!
