Jim, She bought it with her money back then. We were dating and I went with her to look at it. Did you see the pics with the blue on it? Here is a shot of the inside of the fender that I sprayed recently.

like i said its been 20 years so i don't remember everything exactly the way it happened. what color blue is it and how did you pick it? for my Corvette i drove up and down Bell road and looked at all the new greens at the time. i ended up across the street where you once worked (Midway Chevrolet) and picked 1999 Nissan Maxima deep evergreen from one of the cars on the lot. the paint job lasted 6 years then the clear just didn't hold up any longer. as I'm sure you know too well a good paint job is way expensive so i still have not painted the car since 99.

I didn't mean anything by the correction, Jim. I just wanted to clearify for everyone. You would be the only one here who saw this car running (I think).
We went to Sherwin Williams at least twice to pick the blue plus we went to a few car shows to see what everyone else had. We went though hundreds of paint chips till I saw what we liked. Today we were at Shelby American in Vegas and they had a 2012 GT350 with this blue on it!!!

I may have been on vacation this week but I have been working on it. I figure you don't want to see all the little things like lifting the body back up 4 inches to install the fuel return line. Having to order new clips to hold both the fuel feed and return lines because our car didn't have one originally. Now that these items are installed I can put those fenders on!! I still have to install the fuel tank again. There are so many details that have to be done. Car will get final paint soon. My next step in paint will be the silver for the stripes. I'm going to lay that down first and clear coat them. Then mask the stripes and paint the blue over the whole body. That is the next exciting step. After that is the step I'm dreading, I have to wire up the entire car!!

Here are some updates. Got both the fenders on and fitted. Hood is also on but will come back off during paint. I have some fine tuning to do with the fitting and some final sanding. I'm going to spray the silver base for the stripes on real soon.

Time for another update. It took us five hours thursday night to get the stripes masked off. This was before it was towed over to the paint booth.
